59th Annual Lake Oswego Tree Lighting Festival

Community: Lake Oswego Park and Recreation

There’s something memorable about experiencing Lake Oswego with your friends, neighbors and family at a joyful, musical, magical community celebration. Fr iday, November 24 is the 59th Annual Tree Lighting Festival and it’s shaping up to be a night to remember!

This annual event is presented by the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and City of Lake Oswego to kick off the holiday season with music, lights, entertainment, and of course, a visit by the fellow in red! Millennium Plaza opens at 3 p.m. with Dickens Carolers, reindeer and booths for artists and local food favorites.

Directors Mortgage returns as this year’s title sponsor, as well as HomeStreet Bank, and it would not be an event without the Hanna Family, Mayor Joe Buck, Chamber President Heather Graves Ramsey and costumed characters in the plaza handing out cookies. Santa will be available in the middle of everything for photos and he’s taking delivery orders. Bring the family to the tree during daylight or the Millennium Fireplace.

Lakeridge High School Company show choir and Lake Oswego High School’s Windjammers lead the audience in carols at 5 p.m., followed by the official tree and plaza lighting at 6 p.m.

When the lights come up, there will be a special announcement for this year’s downtown shoppers accompanied by the Millennium Concert Band whose music will fill the air until the festival ends at 7 p.m.

Come rain or shine, it’s always a memorable evening because you never know what local celebrity you’ll see enjoying the lights, the joy and the festivities of Lake Oswego, Oregon — a caring community where people come together under the trees, by the lake and in the rain!

Everyone’s favorite downtown restaurants are open, so make a reservation for before or after the tree lighting and stop into the local stores to kick off your holiday shopping.
